4.-,

to cause your representative trouble in the handling of the cargo now on the way aboard the S/S "Panama".

556

We have no doubt but what you will immediately take this up with your home Government in an endeavour to have them issue the necessary instructions to the Hong Kong Government, so that the cargo of the S/S "Panama" may be handled in accor- dance with our ideas, as outlined in previous correspondence.

It is needless for us to say that we would not enter-

tain the proposition of Shewan Tomes & Co., i.e. acting for The Texas Co. in the South China field, and we hope that in the

near future we may receive the final figures on the last cargo

lifted by the "Liddesdale" and that Shewan Tomes & Co's activi -

ties may cease as far as the Kerosene Oil business with the firm,

Messre. Reuter Brockelmann & Co., is concerned.

Yours very truly,

(signed): W.B.Knight

Assistant Manager.

SALONS

The cable received by the Texas Company from Messrs.

Shewan Tomes & Co., referred to in above letter, reads as

follows:

"Theodosius London. Shewan Tomes cable quote:

'Government refuse to allow Cheetham to act as Agent

Sanders. If you telegraph to us authority to take over

new consignment, we can make satisfactory financial ar-

rangements.' Unquote. Please take this question up

with your Home Government

Bo Steamer Panama will be

handled as outlined. Texas Company."

Jes.
